MUC Sports Center

This Sports Center is part of a large university complex in Iraq, it is designed as a bold, grounded volume with strong horizontal lines and warm brick tones, recalling the mass and permanence of Sumerian civic structures. Its layered façades and recessed openings reinterpret ancient brick architecture in a contemporary athletic setting. Deep overhangs, shaded entrances, and screened façades respond to the site’s hot climate by minimizing heat gain and providing comfortable transitional spaces.
